Utiku Potaka
Utiku Potaka is the Chairman and a Ngāti Hauiti representative for the Mōkai Pātea Waitangi Claims Trust. He is currently the General Manager for Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Hauiti and as such holds a number of leadership positions within Ngāti Hauiti. He has been actively involved in whānau, hapū and iwi development for the past two decades.

Utiku holds a Bachelor of Business Studies and a Post Graduate Diploma in Māori Development from Massey University. His academic achievements have provided a sound platform to his extensive public and private sector experience in planning, policy, research, management and Māori development.


Ike Hunter
Ike HunterIke Hunter is the kaumatua for Opaea and Moawhango Marae representing the iwi of Ngāti Tamakōpiri and Ngāti Whitikaupeka. He is also kaumatua for the Mōkai Pātea Waitangi Claims Trust. He is the Chairperson of the Aorangi Awarua Trust, a position he has held for the past 18 years and is a trustee on several other land trusts. He retired in 2011 after a career spanning 52 years with the Defence Force, Work and Income and the Māori Trustee in which he held various middle and senior management positions.


Barbara Ball
Barbara Ball is a Trustee of the Mōkai Pātea Waitangi Claims Trust, and shares one of the representative roles on behalf of Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Whitikaupeka.Barbara Ball

Barbara currently represents Ngāti Whitikaupeka and the Ōtaihape/Mōkai Pātea Rohe in a number of roles including the health sector at a local and regional level.

Barbara has worked for a number of years in whānau, marae, hapū and iwi development within the rohe - this has led to her expertise and knowledge in planning and process, implementation and development, management, governance and leadership.


Moira Raukawa-Haskell
Moira Raukawa-Haskell represents Ngāti Tamakōpiri on the Mōkai Pātea Waitangi Trust. Moira is the Chairperson of Te Runanga o Ngāti Tamakōpiri and the Chairperson of its operation Trust, Kaiao Rangi Trust. She is also the General Manager of Ōtaihape Maori Komiti Inc, the iwi service provider, and is fully involved in the advancement of the people of Mōkai Pātea.


Maria Taiuru

Maria Peauwini Taiuru represents Ngāti Hauiti on the Mōkai Pātea Waitangi Claims Trust.

She also represents her whānau on Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Whitikaupeka.  She worked for 30 years in the Mental Health Administration Service, and a lifetime in iwi/hapū development and marae administration.


Kelly Thompson
Kelly is one of the two Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Te Ohuake representatives on the Trust. For the past ten years Kelly has been a member of Te Runanga o Ngāti Whitikaupeka participating in Kelly Thompson Iwi business and currently holds an executive position on their Trust. Kelly is also the Mōkai Pātea representative on the Whanganui Museum Board.

Kelly has worked in the health, whānau, hapū and iwi development sectors within Ōtaihape for five years. She is currently employed by for Ngāti Hauiti as their Office Manager/Cultural Facilitator.


Grant Huwyler
Grant Huwyler represents Ngāi Te Ohuake on the Mōkai Pātea Claims Trust and is a Trustee on the Te Kete Manawa Trust and the Rakautaonga Trust (Ngāti Hauiti). He has been involved in whānau, hapū and Iwi development in the Rangitīkei area for twenty years, and has been a keen supporter of Iwi development initiatives within the Mōkai Pātea collective. Grant hails from the Hunia whānau which does not have a strong profile and presence in Mōkai Pātea but has a proud Ngāi Te Upokoiri, Ngāti Hinemanu and Ngāti Hauiti heritage. Included in Grant’s resume is experience in senior Management in a number of Iwi and kaupapa Māori organisations including the start-up of Māori Television, management of the Moriori Iwi authority on the Chatham Islands and his current role as Group CEO for Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Apa. Amongst these experiences has been hands on involvement in a successful Treaty of Waitangi settlement.


Hari Benevides
Hari BenevidesHari represents Ngāti Tamakōpiri and holds a number of other positions including Chairman for Morikaunui Incorporation, the Whanganui Trust, and the Opaea Marae Trustees. She is also a member of the committee of management for Waipakuranui Incorporation and is a trustee on several other trusts.

She has completed research for her whānau Waitangi Claim and is involved with Māori land interests and history.
