Robert is one of the representatives for Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Te Ohuake.
Robert is the Chairperson for Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Te Ohuake and is sitting as the hapū delegate for Ngāti Tamakorako. Robert is the General Manager for two organisations, Te Maru o Ruahine Trust which operates as the legal entity for Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Hauiti and Rauhuia Environmental Services. Robert Chairs and is the Project Executive for the Ngā Puna Rau o Rangitikei environmental group, and is a delegate for Ngāti Hauiti to Te Ranga Tupua (a collective of iwi leaders from Mōkai Pātea Iwi Nui Tonu, Ngāti Apa, Ngāti Rangi, Atihaunui-a-Paparangi (Whanganui) and Taranaki Iwi).
After resisting the requests to be involved in hapū and iwi matters for some time, Robert finds himself immersed in Iwi development. Robert has quickly become involved in hapū and iwi development over the last six years. Roberts commercial experience and knowledge is across industries, including education, agriculture and exporting. With direct experience in asset management, procurement, logistics and contract management. Robert holds a Bachelor of Applied Business Studies as well as an advanced certificate in Adult teaching. Robert was bought up in Moawhango with strong ties to Ngati Whitikaupeka through his childhood, leaving home to settle in Turakina over 30 years ago. With his whakapapa ties also to Ngāi Te Ohuake Robert has put his skills to work, assisting the development of Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Te Ohuake. Previously Deputy Chair, Robert took on the role of Chair with the full support of rūnanga delegates and Te Rangianganoa Hawira, who stood down in late 2018, due to external commitments impacting the time Te Rangianganoa could give to the role of Chair.
