Mōkai Pātea Hapū Elections Process

The Mōkai Pātea Waitangi Claims Trust is governed by representatives from the four iwi of the Mōkai Pātea rohe: Ngāti Whitikaupeka, Ngāti Tamakōpiri, Ngāti Hauiti, and Ngāti Te Ōhuake. Each iwi appoints two trustees through their respective rūnanga, forming an eight member Trust Board, alongside a Tumu Mōkai who sits across all four iwi.

Hāpū elections are held every four years in accordance with our mandate and governance framework. These elections ensure fair representation and provide whānau with the opportunity to vote for their representatives.
